Relationship between Energy Consumption, Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Economic Growth: Evidence from Selected Top Oil Energy-Consuming Countries

چکیده
With rising climate change concerns and increasing energy demand, many of the developed countries are pursuing sustainable low carbon economic development plans. The dramatic use fossil-fuel in economy increases level dioxide emissions. Carbon (CO2) is dominant greenhouse gas that intensifies global warming phenomena as a challenge over last two decades. As nations around world taking immediate steps to address this issue, it vital efficiently minimize environmental pollution effects. Thus, research examined relationship between consumption, CO2 emissions, growth for top oil energy-consuming countries, including U.S., Japan, Canada, Australia. It also estimated impact other macroeconomic parameters comprising inflation rate, investment trade openness on growth. Multiple regression analysis was employed time series data covering timespan from 1990-2018. empirical findings indicated consumption has positive significant selected countries. Unsurprisingly, proxy fuel-based use, had destructive influence environment. Moreover, results showed association existed openness, Conversely, rate all an insignificant output. Policies such efficient energy, tax, replacing bio-diesel fuel, or implementing renewable instead fossil-fuels were suggested curb

Renewable Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Co2 Emissions: Evidence from Selected Mena Countries
This paper uses panel cointegration techniques to examine the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic growth and CO2 emissions for a group of 12 MENA countries covering the annual period 1975-2008. The Granger-causality results indicate that there is no causal relationship between these variables in short run except a unidirectional causality running from renewable en...

This paper provides an empirical analysis of CO2 emissions and economic growth, based on a panel dataset covering 93 countries over the period 1960-2008, and examines the challenge of country selection for homogenous and appropriates groups. Foremost, we have proposed a no parametric hierarchic clustering approach, based on 17 criteria and used the Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Component...

Economic growth and energy consumption: New evidence using continuous wavelet
This study examines the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in the Iranian economy. To that end, a wavelet transformation technique is used, which allows us to combine the time domain and frequency domain characteristics of two time series together. Using this approach and data for the period 1991:2 – 2017:1, this study tries to overcome the shortcomings of standard eco...
